Base: the 127,602 editorial rows in the JournalistLabs base (`platform_domain == 0` and `media_typed == 1`), people data pulled from July to September 2026. A row is US when the person's own country code is US; 69,377 rows qualify. State is the person's state code; 5,710 rows have none. Role is classified from the job title.

The BLS comparison figure (about 47,100 jobs for news analysts, reporters and journalists in 2025) is from the BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook and covers a narrower occupation that excludes editors.
